Gerie has participated in the Pan Am eleven times (1999-2009).  In 2002, his '64 Chevy II Nova "Durango Deuce" finished first in Historic C and eighth overall.  Between Carreras, he raced a ‘93 Camaro ITE with SCCA and the National Auto Sports Association (NASA).  He is also a High Performance Driving (HPDE) Instructor for SCCA and NASA.  In 2007, he finished first in class and sixth overall in the Chihuahua Express in his Camaro, and tenth overall in 2010.  Gerie has retired from a staff position the California Teacher’s Association and the National Education Association, and holds a M. A. and Ph.D. in European diplomatic history from The Florida State University.  He and his wife Diane live in Half Moon Bay, which is about 30 miles south of San Francisco on the coast, and are building a home in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.  The best way to communicate with Gerie is via e-mail.

Gerie handles entry applications and fees for the 2010 Pan Am and Chihuahua Express.  He writes and distributes CARRERA NEWS each month to over 1600 people who have signed up for the publication, and CARRERA DRIVER, for those who have signed up for the event.  Gerie also has led the Coyote Convoy from Laredo, Texas, to the start of the Carrera for  years.

Since 2006, the Coyote Convoy has stopped in San Miguel de Allende for a car show and to raise funds for local charities that support children and families.  Gerie is also a trustee of the fund that support Guadalupe “Lupita” Hernandez Ramirez, the Mexican nurse who lost both legs at the hip when a Carrera car hit an oil puddle and crashed into her ambulance.
