Gerie has participated in the Pan Am eleven times (1999-2009). In 2002,
his '64 Chevy II Nova "Durango Deuce" finished first in Historic C
and eighth overall. Between Carreras, he raced a ‘93 Camaro ITE with
SCCA and the National Auto Sports Association (NASA). He is also a High
Performance Driving (HPDE) Instructor for SCCA and NASA. In 2007, he finished
first in class and sixth overall in the Chihuahua Express in his Camaro, and
tenth overall in 2010. Gerie
has retired from a staff position the California Teacher’s Association
and the National Education Association, and holds a M. A. and Ph.D. in European
diplomatic history from The Florida State University. He and his wife Diane
live in Half Moon Bay, which is about 30 miles south of San Francisco on the
coast, and are building a home in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. The

Gerie handles entry applications and fees for the 2010 Pan Am and Chihuahua Express. He
writes and distributes CARRERA NEWS each month to over 1600 people who have signed
up for the publication, and CARRERA DRIVER, for those who have signed up for
the event. Gerie also has led the Coyote Convoy from Laredo, Texas, to
the start of the Carrera for years.
Since
2006, the Coyote Convoy has stopped in San Miguel de Allende
for a car show and to raise funds for local charities that
support children and families. Gerie
is also a trustee of the fund that support Guadalupe “Lupita” Hernandez
Ramirez, the Mexican nurse who lost both legs at the hip
when a Carrera car hit an oil puddle and crashed into her
ambulance.
